First post, huzzah!
This past weekend (or as most would refer to it, Easter Weekend) I stayed at my brothers house and though I did not get any sleep, I did, however, manage to pick up this book. I've had it for less than 24 hours and I'm glued to it. It's called "Scar Tissue" and it's a memoir by Anthony Kiedis, the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It may look like another musician autobiography about "how hard it is to be a rockstar because my life really sucks" but it actually is quite honest and makes me love the band more than I did before.
I never really was a big fan of RHCP. I liked their music, but was never really into them because they're an older group who tends to blend in with other 80's and 90's rock bands (even though when you listen to them, they have a very unique sound). For instance, I asked my mom if she knew who they were, and she said, "You know, they sound familiar, and I'm sure I've heard them somewhere." I played her a few sounds and she recgonized them right away, but she wasn't even aware RHCP sang them.
They are one of those bands whose music overshadows the actual people. In my opinion, that's true artistry. It shouldn't be about the band, it should be about the music. Am I right, or am I right?
Anyway, it's a New York Times Bestseller for a reason. I would definatley recommend it for anyone, regardless if they are a RHCP fan or not.
